Chicago: A joyful birthday outing in the United States turned into an unimaginable tragedy for a 26-year-old software engineer from Andhra Pradesh. Singireddy Sai Sriharikrishna, who had recently begun building his career after completing his Master’s degree, lost his life in a drowning incident at a waterfall in California while celebrating with friends.

The young engineer had only recently started working in St. Louis and was said to be excited about this new chapter in his life. To mark his birthday, he traveled with friends to a scenic waterfall, looking forward to a day of relaxation and celebration. Known among his circle for his love of swimming, he entered the water without hesitation, unaware of the danger beneath the surface.

Within minutes, the situation took a fatal turn. Strong currents and hazardous water conditions overwhelmed him. Reports suggest he may have been caught in a whirlpool, while another account indicates his feet became trapped in underwater tree roots as he tried to return to safety. His friends immediately attempted to rescue him, struggling for nearly ten minutes against the powerful flow, but were unable to pull him out.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but despite their efforts, he could not be saved. His body was recovered following a search operation, and authorities later confirmed the incident as an accident caused by dangerous water conditions.

The sudden loss has left his family in deep shock. His parents, Singireddy Srinivasa Rao and Ramadevi, remember him as a young man full of hope and ambition, just beginning to realize his dreams. Efforts are now underway to bring his remains back to India, as loved ones grapple with a heartbreaking loss that turned a day of celebration into one of sorrow.
